Reviews for Taqueria Los Ocampo
Review highlights
Based on 1,270 reviewsTaqueria Los Ocampo is widely praised for its authentic and flavorful Mexican cuisine, with several patrons noting that the food rivals, and sometimes surpasses, dishes found during visits to Mexico. The restaurant's family-friendly atmosphere and steady popularity during peak dining hours highlight its community appeal. Customers frequently recommend items like tortas, while some praise the overall taste and quality of their orders, including delivery experiences. However, feedback indicates room for improvement in salsa offerings, which some find lacking in flavor and variety. Despite occasional challenges with the surrounding area, the establishment remains a favored destination for those seeking reliable, satisfying Mexican fare in St. Paul.
I think the place is good, however 1 thing they've just let go of is their salsas, they just aren't good , only one out of 3 is acceptable which is the avocado 1 and even that one lacks flavor, i would highly advice to help yourselves changing that, mexican food depends on it's salsas to be great, by themselves the plates are no different from any other food in the country and actual Mexicans, Notice.
Everything tastes great. Nice & hot. Usually 10-15 min wait. Has a rush around lunch, dinner & late night 9-11 Booths tables not too loud, cold in there though. Recommend a torta, my favorite everywhere else can’t compare. Elote is alright wouldn’t have it again. Check out El burrito for best corn.
Edit 8/26 - I had not been here in while. They definitely spruced up the place and it feels more family friendly. Uploaded more photos of the food because it is really delicious. Some reviews deserve to be updated. Amazing food and amazing people. The only downside of this place is the location. You may get a colorful drunk character here and there on a weekend. But other than that, the food is absolutely worth the wait, which is significant when they are packed. The alambres and the gorditas, and birria tacos are a highlight for me.
This is our go to spot for delicious Mexican food, I hate to say it, but we’ve had better tasting food here that in our last two trips to Mexico. So you know it’s amazing.
We ordered from doordash. Food was superb. Will order from here again.
I ordered a beef barbacoa quesadilla combo through DoorDash and it was quite good. The beef was so tender and flavorful! I will say that the rice and beans were a bit plain for my liking. I did really appreciate that they included 3 different types of salsas/sauces, as well as napkins and disposable silverware. It’s not the absolute best Mexican food I have had in the twin cities, but it was authentic and pretty tasty overall. I likely will order from here again!
Taqueria los Ocampo has a great selection of superb, authentic Mexican food at a reasonable price. The service is a bit slower, but that is usually due to the large number of orders and the quality of the food. Worth the wait, definitely. The sauces also have a great kick, which is always a bonus!
I always get the Cubana. I get her other stuff like the Mexican corn. Don’t call people who make your food especially here. Friend told me about this place and I told myself about the amazing Green Hot sauces. The red is meh for me. Avocado Salsa and Cilantro salsa delicious or as I say yeah the green ones. Love the people and the vibes 7 stars
